Learn more about Cocaine Abuse Treatment

Cocaine, often considered a high class way of getting high, is a strongly addictive central nervous system stimulant that comes in a white powdered form and a crack rock. You may have started to use cocaine as a way of staying awake, cramming for an important deadline at work and found that you were hooked on the feelings of exhilaration it causes. You may have tried coke at a party and found that the way it made you feel was irresistible. Before you knew it, you’d developed a pricey coke habit and realized that you were powerless to your coke addiction. The addiction specialists at our leading cocaine addiction treatment center in Tampa understand that the reasons for your addiction are as unique as you are, and we’re ready to help you tackle your addiction, once and for all.

Helping a Loved One

How To Help A Loved One Enter Inpatient Rehab for Cocaine Abuse

If you’re sitting on the sidelines, watching your loved one spiral downward into a pattern of cocaine abuse, you probably feel helpless and alone. You may be afraid to make things worse by saying or doing the wrong thing. You may realize that the situation is dire and that you must do something to help your loved one seek professional help and not know how to approach the topic. It’s time to help your loved one seek the help they need to recover.

Allow yourself the opportunity to feel your feelings. Join a support group like Nar-Anon or schedule regular visits with a therapist in order to give you the chance to process your own feelings. Addiction is a family disease and impacts everyone in different ways. Self-care is vital during this troubled time.

Learn as much as you can about addiction and cocaine. Knowledge is the power you need to form valid points as to why your loved one should seek inpatient rehab. It will also allow you to function as your loved one’s advocate, something he or she needs desperately at this time.

Approach addiction using “I” statements, such as “I feel,” and “I’ve noticed,” rather than accusatory “you” statements. Keep your calm and give your loved one the chance to discuss his or her cocaine addiction in an open and honest manner. Don’t offer judgments, simply reassure your loved one that you’ll be by them no matter what.

Research leading addiction centers and find one that best meets the needs of your loved one. Make an appointment with an intake specialist who can give you an overview as to what your loved one can expect during care. See if you can arrange to bring your loved one in for a tour of the addiction center to alleviate some of the fears associated with inpatient treatment.
