Don’t delay getting the help you deserve. Our professionals are ready to guide you with compassion and respect.

Adolescent Inpatient Program Overview

Our adolescent inpatient program serves young people ages 13-17 who are suffering from concerns such as:

  • Depression
  • Mood Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Suicidal and/or Homicidal Ideation
  • Self-harm
  • Impulsivity/Risk Taking Behaviors
  • Conduct Disorders
  • Aggression/Violence
  • Other Common Psychiatric Diagnoses

Inpatient care is usually a short-term experience in which patients can receive personalized support to stabilize and improve functioning. At North Tampa Behavioral Health, adolescents typically remain in our inpatient program for five to seven days, depending on their specific needs.

At our facility, prospective patients typically begin the admissions process by completing an in-person assessment, which can help us recommend an appropriate level of care. Our team is available 24/7 and can receive both walk-in and scheduled visits for assessments. We understand that everyone brings unique needs and goals to the treatment process, and we strive to build trust and provide high-quality support for the individuals and families who seek our services.

Therapies & Services

At our hospital, we tailor our care to suit each young person’s needs. And we offer a range of therapies and services that can help your child get on the path to long-term healing. The following are elements we may include in an adolescent’s care plan:

  • Basic medical care
  • Medication management services
  • Individual therapy, which we typically offer once a week
  • Family therapy, which we offer on an as-needed basis
  • Daily group therapy sessions

In our inpatient program, young people may work closely with therapists and meet regularly with a psychiatrist for medication management services if needed. Our therapeutic interventions include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

As part of our in-depth group therapy programming, patients may participate in:

  • Process groups
  • Activity and recreational therapy groups
  • Education groups
  • Nursing groups

During group therapy, patients might explore areas such as illness management and recovery, coping skills, and narrative and creative arts therapies as well as work with professionals such as therapists and registered nurses.

Our Facility

We deliver care through a skilled multidisciplinary team that includes behavioral health associates, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed mental health counselors.

Continuing Care

In our adolescent inpatient program, young people can receive focused care to address crisis needs along with a personalized plan for the next phase of their healing journey.

Starting at the time of admission to our program, an adolescent’s treatment team works to create a comprehensive discharge plan. This plan helps ensure that the young person can receive the follow-up support they may need to continue improving their well-being and acquiring the skills for long-term success.

As part of our discharge planning, we may include recommendations for ongoing care as well as practical resources that can help the adolescent transition back to the community as smoothly as possible.

There are so many great treatment programs at North Tampa, that there is something for everyone! I highly recommend North Tampa to anyone who may need it!
