Tampa Community Resources & Local News on Behavioral Health & Substance Abuse

Here, at North Tampa Behavioral Health Hospital, we understand that healing and recovery do not end once you are discharged from our center.

Local Resources in Our Community

We recognize that in order for you to continue living the healthy life you deserve, you must have resources and support in place to continue your progress. For this reason, we create a personalized discharge plan that lists referrals for your aftercare. This plan is what can help you remain healthy for the long-term.

Among the referrals that we give you, we may recommend that you to attend certain support groups once you return home. Support groups allow you to give and receive support to and from your peers, which can assist you in avoiding more intensive treatment in the future. Depending on your aftercare needs, below are some of the support groups that we may refer you to.

We at North Tampa Behavioral Health Hospital are there for you and your family. During your time at our Wesley Chapel, Florida hospital, we strive to give you a worthwhile treatment experience. Additionally, we make it our mission to make sure that you and those closest to you have the support needed to be healthy in mind and body. Therefore, if you would like to learn more about our services, our discharge planning process, or support groups that may help you, call us today. We welcome the opportunity to assist you and your family in any way that we can.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Engaging in a 12-Step group like Alcoholics Anonymous can support you in recovering from alcoholism. AA has long been a staple within the recovery community, and this sort of alcohol abuse support group can keep you on track with your sobriety. Whether you attend an open meeting (meetings that allow anyone to attend) or closed meetings (meetings that permit only those in recovery), you can benefit from interacting with individuals who are also working on their sobriety. During these meetings, you can share your experiences with alcohol abuse, and learn from the experiences of others. Furthermore, you can continue your progress via AA by maintaining a relationship with your sponsor who is also there to encourage and support you.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

Designed specifically for those who are recovering from drug addictions, Narcotics Anonymous groups can assist you in avoiding relapse. NA meetings are similar to AA meetings in that they are based on the 12-Steps, and provide you with the same level of support. However, because drug addiction is different from alcohol addiction, narcotics abuse support groups focus on the challenges associated with abusing cocaine, heroin, meth, and other such drugs. Therefore, if you are in recovery from a narcotic addiction, it could be helpful to engage in an NA group.

Military Family Support

Our center proudly offers the C.O.R.E. Program for military service members who are struggling with trauma and substance abuse. If you are treated within this program, we typically provide referrals for you and your family members to attend support groups at home. There are many forms of support that you and your loved ones can access, and we believe that continued support can help your whole family heal. Military family support groups and military spouse support groups are just a few of the military family resources that presently exist.
